The Busy Lizzie Business Support Team 

Hi! I’m Lizzie Smith and I founded Busy Lizzie Business Support (previously Busy Lizzie Personal Assistant) in 2014, with the aim of providing help and expertise to businesses across the North West. I saw that there was a real need for local businesses to get professional, affordable and efficient help, and I wanted to do something about it. 

From 1st July 2020, the business has evolved to become Busy Lizzie Business Support and we offer a range of services that traditionally would cover multiple roles within an organisation. From copywriting to content creation, social media management and a whole host of business support tasks, we will take the hassle out of all the bits that you never seem to have time for, giving you more time to focus on the bits that you do love!

Working on a freelance basis, we can give as much or as little help as you require, whenever you require it. This flexibility means you can spend your money and focus your efforts on the things that your business needs. 

Our team is made up of myself and my trusted ally in Sarah Bell. Before Sarah joined the team, we actually knew one another from a previous life at university. Our paths went separate ways before crossing again, thanks to our shared vision of servicing clients with our professional skills and the desire to create our own destinies by working for ourselves.

Founder

After a law degree and a successful legal career, I decided to have a change of direction and worked as a Senior Account Manager for a leading North West creative marketing agency, which I loved. I looked after my client’s affairs from copywriting to managing the production of collateral, as well as social media support and admin tasks. 

When our son arrived in 2013, I decided I wanted to work for myself, Not only to achieve a better balance but also to follow my passion to build a business with a future. And so, Busy Personal Assistant was born! On 1st July 2020, it was time for the next chapter, with the business rebranding as Busy Lizzie Business Support.

My skillset and passions include: 

  • Copywriting and proofreading – I’m a true grammar geek!
  • Content creation – I love to work creatively with businesses to showcase what they do.
  • Social media – I’m qualified as a Facebook Blueprint Certified Digital Marketing Associate.
  • Admin/organisation – I love a spreadsheet or 10!

I’m a member of the Association of Professional Virtual Assistants, a member of ProCopywriters, I’m professionally insured with PolicyBee and fully registered with the ICO. With me, your business is in safe hands. 

I’m married, and in addition to my son and husband, I share my home in Lytham with two mischievous (yet gorgeous) Cocker Spaniels. Working from home gives me the flexibility that I wanted for my lifestyle. However,  I’m also happy to work from client offices if that works best for us both. 

I love to go on different holidays with my family as often as possible. You can find me lying by the pool with a book in the sun or hiking in The Lake District. I love my morning coffee and force myself to go for a run and workout so that when I treat myself, I can enjoy a glass of wine with a nice Mediterranean meal!

My faithful associate, Sarah, has a background in the sciences. She not only has a degree in Chemistry and Business Management, but also has an MSc in Environmental Management. With a career in the chemical manufacturing industry spanning nine years, Sarah held several roles that developed her skill set immensely. 

Like myself, Sarah wanted a greater level of flexibility and ownership after her family arrived, She has two rather energetic children now aged two and six! 

Sarah’s skill set and passions include:

  • Data analysis – years spent in this area allow her to interrogate data effectively.
  • Report production – whether technical or not, Sarah can put together the right level of detail, assumptions and actions needed.
  • Project and programme planning – qualifications in PRINCE2 and MSP have enabled her to capably plan and execute projects and organisational changes of all sizes.
  • Admin and organisation – having a background in the sciences necessitates an interest in detail and method, allowing her to be a highly organised and professional Business Support Manager today.

Sarah loves her career as it allows her to put her organisational and creative skills to good use. She’s also a total perfectionist, which is another thing that I love about her! Her ability to read between the lines and project plan so well is what sets her apart from other business support staff out there, It’s another reason why I am thrilled to have her on my team. 

In her free time, Sarah loves trying to tire her children out by walking and exploring the great outdoors with them and her husband. She loves to escape into a good story, whether it be in a book or a film, and when she gets chance, Sarah goes to gigs too. You’ll also find her going on holiday as often as possible!
